Esteban Urbieta
Born in Juchitán, Oaxaca in 1973, Esteban Urbieta graduated from Visual Arts at the Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca (UABJO). He continued his studies in painting, drawing and lithography at Rufino Tamayo’s Workshop (Oaxaca, Oaxaca). He continued to study printmaking techniques with teachers such as Alejandro Santiago and Yasuhiko Miyazaki.
He has participated in numerous collective exhibitions since 1996, in México and the United States (Dallas, Los Angeles, New York). He has shown individually in Oaxaca and Mexico City.
He has received scholarships from Rufino Tamayo´s Workshop (1998), as well as from the Mexican government in 2001 (Jovenes Creadores). Additionally, his work was selected for the first biennial of Painting and Printmaking Paul Gaugin, and the 4th biennial of Southeast Painting and Sculpture.
