Imero Gobbato

"My paintings allow me to express a certain philosophy of life, an almost mystic approach to life, a religiosity of life... my neo-impressionistic paintings, they express a joy. You'd be surprised how many people tell me that."

Imero Gobbato was born in northern Italy in 1923. He graduated with as Master of Art from the Art Institute of Venice before going on for post-graduate studies at the Academies of Fine Art in Milan and Venice. In his career, Imero has been a painter, etcher, engraver, book illustrator, yacht designer, and a musician. Painting has been central to his life for more than 60 years, and has evolved into masterful and joyful celebrations of life.

He has lived in Camden, Maine since 1966 and has been a core member of Harbor Square Gallery's roster since the gallery opened in 1983.
